Social Visit Visa PDF Print

Social Visit Visas are only Single-Entry.

Please inform the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate about any intention to visit restricted regions (Aceh, Maluku, and Irian Jaya), which requires special authorization from Indonesian authorities;
this also applies to those who previously worked there and hold immigration permission (e.g. Freeport employees and religious workers). For family members who wish to join their families there, it would be more convenient if your principal sponsor in Indonesia obtains permission prior to the visa application. The applicant could also contact the employer/company/sponsor in Indonesia to obtain permission through the Clearing House at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DepLu); please contact the Directorate for Consular Affairs there. The Indonesian Embassy/Consulate will not issue any visa without official notification of approval to enter restricted regions.

In addition to the general requirements , Social Visit Visa applicants must also submit the following items:

  • A letter of invitation (in duplicate) from the family or social organization, which describes the purpose of the visit and guarantees all transportation and living expenses that will incur in Indonesia
  • US$35 fee in cash or money order (payable to the Indonesian Consulate)

Non-US citizens also need to submit a copy of their US permanent residency, visa, or valid I-20 from schools/universities. Please note that applicants with US tourist visas will not be processed, as they need to apply for an Indonesian visa from their country of origin.

For a family visit, the applicant must also include EITHER:

  • A copy of the KIMS/KITAS (a temporary stay permit issued by Indonesian immigration authorities) of the non-Indonesian principal/person who is sponsoring the visit, or
  • A copy of the KTP (Indonesian ID card) of the Indonesian sponsor.

Foreigners who do not have a KIMS/KITAS cannot sponsor a family visit.
